rF2 track: Oulton Park Island
Official Practice: 4:30 PM PST / 16:30 PST / 00:30 UTC (120 minutes)
Qualifying: 6:30 PM PST / 18:30 PST / 02:30 UTC (15 Minute PRIVATE session)
Warmup: 6:45 PM PST (5 minute Driver's Meeting)
Race 1 Green Flag: 6:50 PM PST (two-race Twin Sprint Pro Am ROLLING START format,
16 laps each)

Practice Server Time: 3:00 PM (sunny and dry)
Qualifying Server Time: 3:00 PM (sunny and dry)
Race Server Time: 3:00 PM (sunny and dry)

damage: 65% (shall be turned off for weekday practice)
fuel multiplier: normal
tire multiplier: normal
mechanical failures: normal
timescale: normal
flag rules: Black Flag
pit speed limit = per track default

Lap record holder: new sim, new car set, new track

Track limits:

Standard ESR rules, asphalt and curbing are racing surface, two tires must be in contact with racing surface, tires must never be in grass, dirt, gravel, etc.

There are at least two corners that have a use-able surface outside of the curbing that looks to be cinder blocks. The exit of T1 is an example. You may treat the "cinder blocks" as runout area, two tires must be in contact with the red and white curbing.

These races will feature our usual Twin Sprint Pro Am format with two 16 lap races and a full grid inversion for Race 2.

This race is open to everyone but drivers who are slower than 107% of the pole time will be moved to the back of the grid for Race 2.

I added the BTCC BMW 125i to the server for testing purposes.

During the preseason, I wasn't expecting "half" the grid to choose the RWD Subaru so I wouldn't mind variety within the rear drive cars by including the BMW, especially when a BMW 125 was the 2014 and 2018 champ in real world BTCC.

http://www.btcc.net/history/champions/btcc-champions/

I was disappointed with the turnout for Round 1, expecting better with 16 entries for Test Race #1, 100s of views on our forum and the S397 forum plus many new names on the server. If the BMW fits and motivates just one more driver to join us full time, it'll be worth the awkwardness of testing a car mid-season.

I wanted to test offline but the green racing surface meant that I couldn't simply try to get close to my lap times with the Civic and I ran out of time.

My gut feeling is that it is basically the Subaru with a different body but also that it is more like the other set of BTCC cars that are on Steam, some funkiness with the brake lights and off pace from the cars that we are using.

The last thing I want is current drivers spending a bunch of time testing when they would be better served by developing and bonding with their chosen car so if after a month of testing and two official test weekends you decided on front drive, you really should stay put; I would be happiest if the current Subaru drivers played around with the BMW with option of a limited number switching to the BMW by admin approval. Like I said, if we are going to have bunch of rear drive cars, may as well have a mix of BMWs and Subarus.

I'll try to do some testing but am hoping that multi-time champ Dave Hutton will have it covered.

I will check it out, also. I hate it but I am likely going to have to switch to a rwd car. I just can't keep tires on the fwd's. More importantly, I can't drive them when the tires get bad. I finished both races with 0% front right and had zero grip the last 1/4th of the races. I went back and tested with the Subaru and had 18% left on mediums. I just have no idea how to setup or drive fwd cars. I thought it would be fun to learn but I am not getting anywhere close to competitive. I'm still testing but that is where I am leaning.

I'll test it also, maybe it's a better car for me. I'm just totally noncompetitive in the FWD cars and not really having tire issues, just don't know how to get another second and a half out of it to be up towards the front.

I don't know if it matters but there was a comment that the BMW had no rear brake lights.

BTW, about server setup with AI - I've seen many times in the past people complain that they connect to a server that they think has people on it and the game downloads all the content and they finally are able to connect and they find that the server is just filled with AI.

If the intention in having AI on the server is to attract people, it may have the opposite affect and with the new UI, you can see which servers have AI in them.

I know I prefer not to have AI online. If I want to practice with AI, I can do that offline.

Also, you can save the realroad from the server and load it offline or set your offline testing with other levels of rubber and either dynamic or static rubber.

Just a heads up that I am going to hijack the server tonight (Wed Feb 12) for BTCC testing at a faster, more familiar track so any difference between the approved cars and the BMW 125i can be more quickly and easily distinguished.

I am going to shoot for 8:00 PM California time server change over and ~9:00 PM participation personally, would be great if others could join me but either way if there's an appreciable difference it won't take days of testing to realize it; one time deal to certify it for the class.

I'm thinking either Portland because we have lots of data and it's a short lap or Watkins Glen NASCAR because it's fast and short lap.

Probably Portland because data and setups.

90% sure im gonna stay with the Subaru still. But the 125i adds variety. Defenitely cool car to drive, and mixing more RWD is very very nice!!!! Car feels light and responsive!

I failed to mention that I am fine with drivers booting the AI during the week but please restart weekend before you leave the server.

I had no chance last to test it either and we now have family staying at our house.

I've done lots of laps with both the BMW and the Subaru. The BMW is a little more nimble, but less stable and I burn up more tire. I am more consistent over a race distance in the Subaru, but my fast lap is better with the BMW (more in line with my Civic times). Fun car for sure. Seems to fit in with the group. That's all I got for now!

Can anyone tell me what a competitive lap time would be at Oulton?
