Congrats to the podium finishers

I think it has been years since I've had as bad a night of racing. I switched to the Subaru to hopefully get some competitive pace, I didn't. Going back to to the MG.

Race one was a disaster, I was slower than pretty much everyone so was pushing the car as much as a could which resulted in so many spins off track I lost count, so dead last and got lapped by over half the field.

Race two more of the same but less spins and didn't get lapped, but went from front row start to a trailing 11th place finish.

I have no explanation and If I can't figure this out I may just sit out the rest of the season, it's not worth the every Sunday night frustration for me.

Another intense night of racing. Couldn't seem to find a spot to pass Sweeney so had to settle for 4th.

Race 2 was a bit tougher as I met with the grass in lap 1 after having to slow way down for an incident in front of me in T1. Dave behind me couldn't slow enough & gave me a 'how's your mother' right up the backside. Back on track in 14th place, I fought all the way to 4th but only after Dave did the gentlemanly thing & let me by on the last lap.

I feel your pain KJ. It does suck to be in search of speed and never finding it. I had the same happen to me in my final days of rF1. It will get better. Hope you stick around.

Forgot to mention I qualified with 25 laps of fuel. I might have been able to gain a few 100s at least to help get closer to the front. I don't make it a priority to make a Q set but it might be helpful since the competition is so close, any little edge might help to grab that win.

For the first time this season, I got a full race length in during the week, which took some pressure off, knowing that I could do the race distance on mediums with some tire life in reserve and I could focus on qualifying pace during official practice.

That backfired a little because my PB from practice was going to be hard to match but however we do it, somehow the top drivers manage to increase their focus in qualifying. I managed a PB early in qualifying which put provisionally put me on top but I wasn't certain that it was clean, may have put a tire in the grass, which put big pressure on me to match or beat it so I wouldn't have to deal with it post-race with a grid penalty the next weekend and having scrutinized one driver, I'd be obligated to check everyone. I must have gone out 5 or 6 times for an out lap plus a hot lap to maximize the tire grip and my chances and late in the session I managed the 1:08xxx that put me on pole (verified post-race but I forgot to check the earlier quick lap).

My gearing put me in a bad spot in the power for the rolling start. As pole man, I should have control of my own destiny as far as that goes - should be able to set whatever speed is good for me - but with the slow chicane and a short run to start/finish I felt obligated to make it a slow start. On both the practice and official starts, I got a poor jump but was able defend at T1 and able to assume the lead.

Dave Hutton (#316 Kohler Engines Subaru) hounded me for most of the race, which was much better than the pack that should have included Rich Minkler (#76 Samson Mercedes) and Brandon Smith (#900 eBay Motors BMW) who had an incident early in the race. I gained in one section but he gained in another so I had no chance to relax. It was warmer than it has been, I should have probably been in shorts rather than sweatpants and with the intensity of the race, I was sweating enough that I thinking that I was going to have puddles in my moccasins by the end of the race. I'd forgotten till now that that was without Rich and Brandon adding the pressure.

Thankfully, something happened to Dave that dropped him into the clutches of Pat Sweeney (Mercedes) and Mike Campbell (MG) and I felt like I had enough tire in reserve to try to build a small margin which came in handy when I made a mistake on the penultimate lap and 2-5th place got much larger in my mirrors. I hung on take the win by 0.8 sec, the top 4 covered by 1.6 seconds. Superb.

I remember less about Race 2. The technical restarts were annoying but the distraction was personally less of an issue because less pressure at the start of Race 2, just need to avoid trouble. A number of cars skittered off and I pretty quickly found myself in P4 or P5 until I touched the grass with my left rear setting up for the 4th gear right at the bottom of the first hill and I spun off, losing 2-4 positions and sight of Hutton who had been inches ahead of me 9 seconds earlier.

With a few laps to go, I found myself in 4th place fighting for 3rd with Pat Sweeney, had a disagreement at the end of Lap 18 entering the chicane that basically put us back to where we were at the beginning of Lap 18 and we had one more lap to decide it. I dropped back this time at the chicane, hoping for a mistake which I looked to have gotten with Pat slow middle and out of the chicane but then I somehow knocked the gearbox into neutral then 1st when I would have wanted third gear and lost all of the momentum and drive that would have had me beating Pat to the checkered flag only to be amazed to watch Pat pull off to serve a penalty!

I haven't tabulated the results yet but I'm pretty sure that 1-3 gives me the overall and some consolation for the first two race weekends which have had me go from Hero to Zero, pole and pole to encounters with every immovable tire stack on the season, bent steering, some time on my roof and even more with a stalled engine admiring the tread patterns of the various used tires. Hopefully, that nonsense is behind me and I can get Honda back into contention for the championship with good overall finishes.

I haven't been able to watch the entirety of the races but my impression is that we had a very nice bounce back from an eventful Round 2.

Setting the server with zero AI, manually adding 10 AI for the first 30 minutes of Official Practice worked as intended as they were automatically absent from qualifying and race.

The pace car didn't work here but was only missed because someone had to announce the green and the total race time and laps are inaccurate with the extra lap and human paced formation lap. The execution of the Race 1 start was excellent, Race 2 suffered from inexperience. Rolling starts are relatively new to us but we should be doing better by now, it's no harder than driving around town. Testing the pace car and green flag well ahead of Sunday will be standard procedure, I'm going to test allowing the pace car a 30-60 second head start so that we can have a completely human-paced formation lap at ~50% race speed and single file but still get the computer controlled green flag.

I was disappointed that Bill Worrel was absent this week, can't help but feel that I contributed with how I handled the problems last weekend. Hopefully just a coincidence, I can see him fitting in perfectly with a group of 5-7 drivers who can contend for Top 5s in Race 1 and wins in Race 2 when they are all present and have put in a reasonable amount of practice.

One of the other admins is going to reach out to Lucky Chopps to see what we can do to help him be better prepared.

Rodrigo Oviedo and Todd Stover, both of whom dropped in for Race 2, were excellent, fared well and didn't cause any problems. I am certain that we'll see Todd again, hoping the same for Rodrigo.

Next up is Rockingham and what seems like the best track yet for racing action. Lots of left and right turns, braking and accelerating and probably draft and pass with the BTCC layout using a section of the superspeedway, all of which should make for close racing and passing opportunities. I expect to also see the front drive vs rear drive strengths and weaknesses on display which will make things even more interesting.

Congrats to our winners and to the rest of the podium. Early practice was looking at racing hards. Worked all Staurday trying to get windows to show what everyone else sees, like degrees of rotation, centering spring etc. Nope I don't. And I can't get Logitech profiler to install either so I won't go into here but I managed to change my driving a little to run the races on mediums. I think that alone helped me maintain some sort of competitiveness. Yep, held Mike up pretty good. Dave and I were close at times and all in all was happy in race 1. Race 2, got lucky moving up due to some calamity but ran off at teh fast right hand sweeper I think 3 times. Well the last one was on teh last lap giving me a stop and go. So in effort to not get DQ'd, I served it. Handed a good bit of positions on that one. Didn't matter though, enjoyed this one over last week's.

My initial reaction to Rockingham is hard. Much more technical. KJ you can beat this. Good Luck fellas! Cheers

Congrats Winners!!

All i could get out of the car this week, was good early on in both races but fell off pretty bad
and got super slow late in the run.

Cool stuff in race 1 holding Pat off but he would not be denied in Race 2, definitely found some speed here!

Props to Mike for his run back for a top 5 after i dumped him in T1 early in the race :( , great work!
