Work and other league events have been keeping me away. Brands Hatch is one of my favourites... hope to be back next week for the other layout.

Extra time on my hands this week backfired somewhat.

I did two or three full race distances without particularly trying to save my tires.

Come race time, though, it was a different story. Race 1, I was able to get pole and lead the field for the first lap + a couple of corners until my hands evidently went for an upshift and downshift at the same time which dropped the gearbox into neutral and then I asked for downshift which then selected reverse.

By all rights, something in the drivetrain should have catastrophically failed but instead, I lost a few positions. I took that in stride but after I had contact with Brandon - twice - and the gap to the front grew bigger and bigger, I pushed too hard and used up the tires well before the end.

Race 2, while running a comfortable second and with the leader in sight, I ruined my own race by putting setting up too wide for T2, put two tires in the grass under braking and instantly spun. I was last by the time I could safely re-enter. Other incidents helped me get back to P5 but another weekend ripe with promise that ended with poor results.

I may owe Pat an apology atop my in-car apology. We had some contact that I may have caused, forgot to look at it last night, will look at it and protest myself if my pass wasn't on a clean trajectory.

Wasn't expecting to finish as well as I did here. I found some extra pace on race night after tweaking the setup a bit. My main concern was being able to push for the entire race without losing the tires. Luckily I had a couple dots left after both races.

In race 1 I was surprised to see Tom go off. Dave was hounding me & catching up in one corner specifically. He got into it with Brandon & that eased the pressure & let me get ahead while they fought it out.

It clicked again in the 2nd race. I was lucky to avoid any mishaps & caught up to Rich to steal the win.

I was sad to see the lineup number less than 10. I hope we don't give up on this sim. The racing is great & there's a definite sense of respect I feel exists among everyone racing here.

Sorry I missed it. I thought I'd make it, but dinner ran late and my daughter called with a tech problem. See you another time.

Don't even remember anything specific Tom. You review and do what you want. I totalled myself in race 1 lap 1 and race 2, started on pole and gave up the lead to the fast guys. Anyway, like Mike said, kind of expected a larger turn out. Everyone must be on iRacing. Rich said 13k were on the other night. Watching the telivised sim events over the weekend must of did it. That was cool. Anyway, had one race and kept to myself. Enjoyed it and was no real challenge but had fun. See you all next race, cheers!

Like Pat said don't remember a lot about the race either. Race one went ok and finished 5th I think. Race two started pretty good and was dogging Mike in 3rd I think put I touched a wheel just of the edge of the track in the back area, sent me spinning and dropped a bunch of spots. A few laps later or less pushing to hard I spun while in front of Barry just after turn one, he had now where to go but to hit me. From there my steering wheel was cocked at 30 degrees. Finished very poorly.

I like Brands Hatch but this particular version has issues, one is causing people to disconnect. Happened to me 3 times, one time just sitting in the pits. Another is edges and grass being like ice, very tough to save the car. Last one being getting hung up in the walls off track after a crash, I was able to ESC out but Pat's PC locked up when he crashed and got stuck in the wall.

Results are posted.

The Stewards reviewed three incidents involving Brandon.

Race 1, Lap 6, 00:47 avoidable contact with #26 Tom Lory
Race 1, Lap 7, 00:11 avoidable contact with #26 Tom Lory
Race 2, Lap 2, xx:xx avoidable contact with #900 Dave Hutton

1 position penalty based on greater of time or at least one position for the Race 1 incidents.

A Stop and Go penalty (28 seconds) enforced post race for the Race 2 incident as Dave DNF'ed so a time penalty couldn't be calculated.

Probation for next race. Any incidents subject to penalty will result in a minimum of a Drive Through penalty calculated post race.

Considering the limitations of positional awareness in sim racing, we are going to tighten up what constitutes having the advantage, right to the preferred racing line as it pertains to passing.

The car on the inside must have his front wheel at least to the midpoint of the wheelbase of the car on the outside ("1/2" a car length) in order to have the positional advantage, right to the preferred racing line. If the car on the outside is the aggressor, it must have its rear wheel at least even with the front wheel of the car on the inside.

Copy that! Sorry! I don't recall the incidents with Tom but I will take a look, but well deserved on the incident with Dave for sure! Sorry again Dave, I totally lost my concentration (I think checking a HUD or mirrors) and when I looked up I was running into you.

Thanks for taking that in stride, Brandon.

Enforcing no contact racing is one area where we can strive for realism without compromising the fun.
