I was having a good go at it. Good racing at the back with Barry and Eric.
Lost the back end in turn 2/3 and broke my car. Limped around and spent 3 minutes in the pit. Lost 3 laps.
On the bright side, I didn't have to drive as far as you guys.

Well done to Pat & also KJ for a strong presence.

Not much to say on my end. I was chasing Tom for several laps but as usual my ping seemed to be acting up. I would check it down the long straight. Eventually it bugged me enough that I started missing my entry into T1. As luck would have it, one of those entries into T1 went sour & I met the wall with tremendous force causing my engine to pop out the rear of the car. Race over.

I did stay on & watch the race. Pat & KJ put on a hell of a show. I saw Brandon bbq his engine & Dave start having tire issues I imagine. I did notice his top speed was somewhere around 178 or so. Wow.

Hey Tom, maybe you need to move the results to the twin sprint thread.

Somewhere between complacency and surrender for me the week ahead of this race and then I wore myself out on Saturday.

By the end of the Twin Sprint weekend I'd gotten a lot more comfortable through T1/T2 but the 1:46s seemed hopeless so not much motivation to put in time in excess of Official Practice.

Then on Saturday I fried my brain with an off road adventure that had me descending a 6500' mountain peak in the dark, rain and fog with puddles hiding obstacles; about 3 hours on fire roads and trails, between dusk and dark and over 8 hours in the drivers seat for the day. Somehow my subconscious was not very interested in the sim rig on Sunday.

I hung myself out to dry at T1/T2 on the start, lost touch with the leaders in the first couple of laps, resigned myself to a 5th place finish, was gifted 4th when Brandon fragged his engine, then gave it back with another fuel miscalculation based on bad math projecting the race to be 31 laps rather than 33 that forced me to pit, which I also screwed up by having difficulty toggling the amount of fuel to add and instead of running race pace and pitting as soon as I realized that I didn't have enough fuel I immediately dialed the fuel mixture back to one and slowed my pace to try to calculate on the fly. It was way too late in the race for that....

Watching the replay, small consolation that I was hustling it through T1/T2 faster than anyone else by the end of the race.

Dave you were fast like a monster!!!!

Liked the track very much, french knows how to make grand prix!

Had a good run with Tim and Barry. Gratz Barry you were really fast again here!

Too bad we lost TimB and Joe360 on the start, would of make a good mid pack mix. These guys should come on Teamspeak.

After 32 laps my left front tyre was at 0%, I never experienced that on rF2. I was looking for a puncture. Wanted to change camera to check it, hit the N key my mistake, basically turn the car into neutral and blew the engine when I shifted back in gear haha.

Cya next week at Imola, land of tifosi, good wine, and cheeze!

Congrats Pat. Interesting race that played out, so far really liking the 60 min format.

Was really happy to qualy 3rd on the grid. On the start I was able tuck up to Hutty and beat Brandon to turn one. But I knew it wasn't going to last, Hutty's speed was pulling away and knew Brandon had more down the straight also. So wasn't surprised when he drafted by me on lap two, now I had Pat hunting me in 4th. We went that way for half the race, sometimes I'd get a gap then we would be nose to tail. On lap 18, we were talking about something and I was not paying attention like I should have and he drafted by on the straight.

I had no solid strategy going into this, just check my tires at half way and figure it out from there. My tires were at 68% or better on lap 17 so I knew I was going to not pit, but I figured Pat would with his history of burning up tires. So after he passed me I wasn't that concerned until he told me on lap 19 that his tires were also at 68% same as me on lap 17. So now I tried to chase him down but couldn't get a pass done on the straight. With Brandon's engine frying and then Hutty slowing down after the finish with 10 mins to go thinking the race was over, Pat nearly totaled both their cars and I was right behind him. We were gifted 1st and 2nd and I had nothing left after I made slight slip with one lap to go.

Congratulations Pat!

I'm not sure what's going on with me. May have a breaking wheel. In both 60 minute races, my center has drifted way off.

2 weeks ago, it happened after I pitted and I did have damage so I completely wrote it off. I practiced both weeks and drove the 2 short races with no issues. 20 minutes into this race, no damage, and running in a strong 2nd it drifted off again. It was almost the same amount, just a little too much to drive comfortably. I immediately started losing ground to Dave, only getting by him when he thought the race was over. Once the tires started wearing out, the combination was too much to handle. I was in first but started losing lots of time. Pat, KJ, and Dave all got by easily. Eventually lost concentration thinking about it and double shifted with 5 minutes left, KA-BOOM.

I thought to check afterwards this time and went back out after the race. The issue continued until I unplugged and restarted the wheel, then it was fine. I did notice the digital stops moved also. I have done some driving since and cannot replicate. I also don't remember any of my G27's doing this and I have been through 3 failing. I'm not even 100% sure it's the wheel causing it. I know the game has the ability to do this to simulate suspension damage. UGGGH.

Maybe Fanatec time!

Thanks for the gift fellas. Brandon first and Hutty who had it in the bag. Jesus, I nearly had a heart attack coming up on Hutty after the finish line. Nearly took us both out, lucky for me. Well, I did improve in the tire management arena. Can't say its a permanent fix yet, we'll see. Was noticing a lot of smoke entering turns and kind of embarrassed to say but duh, tires might be burning up, anyway played around with bias, force everything till I noticed the sensitivity settings in controls. Played with those and reduced the smoke. Maybe a helpful tip to any of you interested.

As far as the race, you've already heard, Kevin and I had a one on one in the field. Sheilds and swords were swung. It was brutal and making mistakes decided the outcome. Or, he'll pit like normal :D Maybe KJ had one more than I nevertheless a great fight all the way to the end.

Good luck fellas, See you all Sunday. Cheers!

May 24 is Memorial Day (USA) weekend, there will be no championship racing but I am going to put something new on the server before the weekend.

I wish that I had thought of it earlier, I don't like drivers to be at a disadvantage from not being able to take advantage of the extra track time but the main reason I know what day it is under Covid-19 measures is that I cross out days on my calendar and was completely oblivious to the holiday until yesterday.

Indy 500 and Monaco GP are normally the last Sunday (Monday?) in May so those two are a thought. I should be home relatively early Friday, will mess around with stock and Steam Workshop content.

Suggestions welcome.

I'd fancy some old open wheel racers (stock ISI) with that British track with the plane on the side. I'll find the name later - its a great track for the F2s. Just a thought.

This may have been my last race of this season.
Starting this week, I will no longer be working from home.
This means travelling every Sunday until my house is sold and I've set up shop in new base of operations.
I will be checking the forum regularly.
Be nice to each other.

The track with the plane is Tigermoth. It is an old airstrip that is a total blast with old open wheelers. The other interesting one is Loch Drummond. Great flow & loads of racing space.

As an aside, if anyone is into Assetto Corsa, there is a mod out there called Content Manager that completely changes the game. It is like a shot of crack for the graphics. It turns a great sim up to 11. FFB, physics, gfx for cars & tracks. Well worth checking out.

I like Loch Drummond except that there are a couple of sections with horrible reflection from the track surface (IIRC). We changed the time of day and experimented with graphical settings and nothing made it acceptable.

I did most of a lap on one of the Tigermoth layouts last night but I was only guessing that was the track that you wanted never mind having no clue which layout so I moved on to Crystal Palace which is completely new to me.
