Three days of good food, good beer, good camping and great cars.

Pics in no particular order...

Corvette was the featured marque this year, and Callaway brought some of its goodies:

I refuse to call it this.

Down the hill at Mosport's legendary Turn 2. As you can see, it already claimed a few victims this weekend.

Approaching legendary Moss; the elevation change is really striking from this angle.

Is that a Merkur XR4TI-bodied car up there? I wonder if it had a pinto engine in it.

Check out the second thread for more pics. My guess was a Merkur too, but it's DEFINITELY a V8.

Great minds and all. That's the first thing that caught my eye. Oh look, says I. An old Roush Merkur with a funny wing on it. Don't forget, they did end up putting a V8 in a couple of them before they were cast off.

Tigeraid: I posted my question before looking at the second post. Oops. haha

It's hard to tell what is "Vintage" any more with all those late model 911's out there. But then looking at some of the older Corvettes, they have the same livery as they did 30-40 years ago (the #40 of Doug Bethke - SCCA National Champion, #77 Charles West(?), #68 of Boris Tirpack...I'm going off of memory here!)...some of them even discovered vinyl graphics it looks like.

Reynard: Yep! That Merkur totally caught my eye. Thanks for the link! I think I subscribe to your youtube channel. Here's another vintage XR4TI one for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hb0DRaHjkg

Useless knowledge alert:

If you want other strange-engine-in-weird-car stories, the Corvette driven by Darin Brassfield in that 1988 Lime Rock Trans-Am race showed up at Laguna Seca in 1991 or 1992. Jerry Brassfield was at the wheel...with a Buick V6 under the hood.

Do you remember the South Africa excuse when Roush won the 1988 GTO Daytona 24 Hours with an XR4TI with a V8 in it (SCCA allowed you to use any engine from the same manufacturer, IMSA did not) :)

Heh. I do remember the V6 Vettes but I had forgotten about the "South Africa Excuse" though.

Nice pics! Just now getting around to going through a lot of stuff.

Love the skid marks at T2 and Moss. Looks like good weather and a great time!
