efnetsimracing continues its string of epic annual Special Events, this time with a visit to the legendary Mt. Panorama Circuit at Bathurst, for the Labour Day 1000 Classic!

We'll be using the updated version of TCL, called "Touring Masters." This version (unfortunately) removes the AE86 Toyota, but (fortunately) cleans up the mod completely, gets rid of a lot of the bad glitches, and equalizes the vehicles in a sort of League Edition. While some cars still enjoy a small top speed advantage, they're usually relatively poor handling or braking (Mustang, Commodore), so it balances out and should be fun.

Reply in this thread with your car selection. We would like to avoid double cars.

Skins will be permitted. Deadline for posting skins (in this thread) will be the Saturday before the race, September 1st.

You can grab the templates here:

http://www.gamefront.com/files/17741325/Touring-Masters-Templates.rar/

---

The race will be 50 Laps, with 1x Tire and 1x Fuel. Most of the cars are in the 35-36 Lap range on fuel, so at least one stop for fuel will be required. Tire strategy will of course play a role, as you can switch from Hards to Mediums to Softs, so be sure to practice!

The mod can be downloaded here:

http://www.blinkerfluid.org/gtr2/index.php?dir=rfactor/Cars/Touring/&file=Touring%20Masters%20v2.9.rar

The cars can work with realfeel, but they weren't designed for it. The feel is a bit vague but the physics are great, the models are great and the sounds are awesome. They drive sideways pretty well.

Ford Mustang
Holden Commodore VL
Nissan Skyline R32
Toyota Supra Turbo
Ford Sierra RS500
Mercedes 190E
BMW E30 M3
BMW M635csi
Volvo 240 Turbo
Rover Vitesse
Alfa Romeo 155 Turbo

We'll be using efnet's patched version of ORSM's Bathurst 2006. This patch is to make the sand traps slightly less deadly, and is MANDATORY to participate!

http://blinkerfluid.org/gtr2/index.php?dir=rfactor/Tracks/&file=efnet_Bathurst.rar

Spread the word--this is an Invitational, come one, come all, it should be a blast!

EDIT: SKIN PACK HAS BEEN COMPILED AND POSTED. DOWNLOAD HERE AND EXTRACT OVER TOP OF "GAMEDATA."
http://blinkerfluid.org/gtr2/index.php?dir=rfactor/Skins/&file=efnet_bathurst_skinpack.rar

FORGOT TO REMIND THE NEW GUYS: THE PASSWORD FOR TONIGHT IS "EFNET."

This mod and this track are a great combo.

Helios and I have tested this mod quite a bit this past week (v.2.9.7 though) at Bathurst (RF version). There's something in the car selection for all driving styles and each car shows its strengths and weaknesses during a lap at Bathurst but it all evens out roughly by the s/f line.

I've totally clicked with the Mercedes 190E. Love it.

The mod sounds like a blast on the car list alone, sight unseen!

Oh lol... my bad, sorry for the confusion. I was typing out a reply and in the process of sounding it out in my head realized that it's a .7z file... I was reading it as 2.9.7z

It's 2.9 we've been using.

 Sorry.

I can't make this race so run what you like. :)

Besides I would have probably gone for the Skyline or the B&H car. ;)

I have time for a skin for Helios. Gotta start one for myself this week, although I need to decide on a car first!

Choices choices...

I like the BMW 635 a lot!
I like the Mustang a lot!
I like the looks of the Sierra but have not driven it yet.
I like the looks of the Alfa but have not driven it yet.
I like the thought of the Volvo but it felt vague.
I need to try to Commodore just because we are doing Bathurst.
I always though the 190E was a cool sports sedan so Ineed to give that a whirl as well.

Hope to decide by Sunday.

Race info posted at GBR. Hopefully I can talk some of the guys into running (assuming they don't have family plans). ;)

We actually run these cars once a month, so quite a few guys already have the mod. 8-)

Yep, Mustangs and Maier (Bill, Mike, and maybe Charlie too) go hand in hand in the east Bay Area. Kind of like the Parks and Corvettes but with a happier ending.

Someone from the HistorX team must have noticed, because they added Bill's AS Mustang to 1.9 too. I thought that was a nice touch.

The race graphic says 2 hours and the first post says 50 laps. The difference is slight but which endpoint are we racing to?

Can someone make me a plain black fox body with some dings and scratches and a NASA sticker on the hatch, #900 ? ( if it's too hard to do the scratches and dings plain will be fine)

I don't even have it installed, much less tried any of the cars, but put me down for a #13 TUM Supra. Red with a pair of black stripes over top if anyone wants to paint a quick one for me!

I have my car selection narrowed to either an E30 M3 or a Mustang. The speed on Mustang>M3 but the handling, fuel mileage, tire wear on E30> Mustang. Lap times are similar.

If I can request a skin, I would like the following design:
Car color = black
Hopsecutioner logo on Hood

Terrapin Logo on Doors

Here are quickies for PG and BSmith. The alpha layer was driving me nuts, as were the templates...so things like hood lines are missing. My zip file of the templates only had a .png for the Supra, so I did the best I could:

I was going to take a Mustang but seems to be the car of choice so I'll go for something different.

I'll take the Nissan Skyline R32

Not sure if I'll have time to make a skin but will try

I'm glad someone is taking it! The main reason I moved away from that one was due to me being afraid half the field would be in Sierras, hence the move to the M635.....then the Mustang ended up being the popular choice. Haha.

Anyone care to share their laptimes from practice? I'm curious what the benchmark is and if I need to shave some time off my laps :D

We ran this as a 90 min enduro over at GBR and my clean laps with race fuel loads w/o traffic were in the 2:22s.

I've seen 18s from several people & a 16 from one bird ... guess who? ;) The Kibster in an Alfa no less. Most are averaging in the 19-20s so far, from what I've seen. I've yet to chose a car - maybe the Benz or the BMW - I'm going for stable & consistent rather than speed. Maybe that'll work. :D

after 3 full fuel laps in the Holden and med tires, I had a 20 flat, and that was with some major sliding. Im sure high teens will be normal.

The Holden, at least at Bathurst, is the quickest car, just because of Conrod. BUT, it's gas mileage is shittier than any other car, so that will likely play a factor.

I'ma hope I'll get tire or fuel advantage... or somethin'. I know I wasn't really focused last night but it sure looks like I'm bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Not completely giving up hope; Bathurst IS one place where 3-4 seconds can melt off with practice. I'm sticking with the Supra regardless.

I was able to click off a couple 22's w/ the M635 on mediums & full fuel. I know I won't be at the front...I'd just like to finish.

I love this track. :D
And these cars. ;)

At an Intermediate, these cars are virtually identical. The RD version of this mod IS a true "league edition."

But go somewhere with a giant straightaway and a couple of the cars make quite a break.

But no matter. The race is 2 hours for a reason. ;)

Ditto, Supra, softs, ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto, and ditto :D

I think I could at least shave off down to the 20s, Bathurst is that way. I'm not remotely in-synch with this "modern" contraption either lol.

That is true. I was doing 2:21's on my own and thought that would be all right. Then I logged into the efnet server and had to melt off those extra seconds by working on setup a lot more after seeing Kiby's and Bucketman's times! Getting rid of a nasty mid-high speed push really helped and I can get to low 2:18's with a full tank race setup....on a clear track. The Mustang in traffic will not be easy.

Surviving Skyline is another matter entirely and that will be the biggest challenge during the race.

What's the consensus for best FFB in this mod? Leave it as is, Real Feel or LeoFFB?

I've got a wicked dead spot between -10 and +10 degrees wheel position (or so) while taking low-speed corners.

So looks like we may have a couple more GBR guys joining for the race. I was hoping to stir up half dozen or so, but I'll take what I can get.

The TCL cars are NOT compatible with RealFeel. One of the reasons I don't like them. I used to use a 50/50 split of regular rFactor and RealFeel FFB for these.

Final reminder, deadline for skins is Saturday night at midnight!

Lots of great stock skins for this mod though, don't let that deter you from racing this weekend!

Alright, skin pack includes helios, tigeraid, reynard, brandon, hutton, zeke, bucketman, and PG Lewis. Drag/drop over top of GameData. Bucket, I renamed yours to follow the format of the rest of the skin pack, and did not include the VEH file since... well, we never put VEH files in a skin pack.

Remember, TCL packs all the different cars as skins into a single folder, so your skin is just another one in the list. As such, you can load your skin on any one of the cars you wish, if there's a particular set of wheels or whatever that you want.

http://blinkerfluid.org/gtr2/index.php?dir=rfactor/Skins/&file=efnet_bathurst_skinpack.rar

See you tonight! Remember, Qualifying is 30 minutes earlier than usual, at 9:00 PM EST!!!

The server seems to have auto-blip on downshift disabled. Correct?

I jumped on the server tonight and had to learn how to heel-and-toe this Mercedes pretty quickly.

I apologize. I've never had it enabled for any of our racing. Didn't even know about it, frankly....

I think it's this line in multiplayer.ini:
Allowed Auto Blip="1" // max level 0-1

I never even thought about it until coming to the end of Mountain Straight, downshifting two gears and suddenly the world started spinning! Must be this mod is more sensitive to requiring a blip than any other I've run with you guys.

I wouldn't even say that... It just just requires that you be slower and more methodical with your downshifts.

I may be able to join in tonight. If I have 1.1 version installed already, do I just overwrite with the above download or should I uninstall?

Quite a few cars are removed from this version so not sure if that's doable. Always best to do a fresh install. ;)

Agreed, fresh install, it's not an update.

Red, choose an easier car then? Run the E30 M3, a child could drive it.

I don't mean YOU'RE a child, I just mean it's a simple car that won't bite you.
