I'm still planning on being on the grid for this, whether I make it to the end, we'll see. ;) pun intended

But I'm not about to change anything else so I'll break out the Merkur... err Sierra yet again.

Fixing but if we're nitpicking this would be better in the mirrors:

#02 Skyline

I boned myself with the wrong tire strategy last year in the Nissan so it's time for a do-over.

Still have the Save-The-Rhinos Volvo in the back of the garage. Slow and steady - finishes about mid-pack.

The Nissan shoudnt be in the same class as the V8s? Those cars have huge power compared to the other tourings.

I'm going by previous Fast Laps and Qualifying, and also taking into account WHO was driving them at the time. If we go purely by horsepower the RS500 and Rover should be with them too, but they handle atrociously.

AND if I ignored drivers, the Mercedes 190E would have to be with the v8s too, thanks to Benzene... :?

If anyone with more experience in these cars wants to pipe up and we get a majority agreement on the Nissan, I'll move it. I know very little about this series, I've only raced it a couple of times.

The Skyline is faster on top end, the Sierra is quicker off a corner and handles and brakes better.

It's Bathurst, so yeah, I'm going with faster and trust that I can keep it on the track after doing so with the much more difficult Mustang.

After about 90 minutes of testing AFTER I picked the Skyline, my best lap in the Sierra is 0.1 quicker than the Skyline.

No idea about fuel nor tires.

I'm pretty sure that if we were were to ban the fastest car each time, we'd have one car left.

If we want to exclude the Skyline, I'm okay with it but I don't think that it belongs with the Mustang and Holden.

If no Skyline then I'll take the Sierra and bitch like a menopausal woman when a Supra wins :P

We did a lot of races and practice with this mod (can't be certain it's the exact same version) at GBR. I do not remember any car dominating. I think I almost swept the series with the 190E because of how well it handled for me (that was more about my style than the car, I think) but when I run the Merc here I get pwned. I think I won in the Holden and Nissan too (I started switching cars mid-season).

The biggest problem we had was that the guys who picked the Mustang would burn the tires off it over an endurance distance. That doesn't seem to be a problem here.

Which was my concern. I also see good times out of the Mercedes and the Supra, but I don't feel comfortable putting them in the V8 class either.

I think since we are talking about just one race, and this track is better for the most powerfull cars, then the analises should be different.

I think Benzene posted a low 19s with the Mercedes, which is pretty fast, but is not super impossible at that track. My personal best with the Supra was 18.9 (offline) but that is very difficult for me to repeat. My actual qualify last year was very bad.

Pat posted 17.9 with the Nissan to get front row, spliting Mustangs.

If those were choices for a season then would make no sense run classes, but since Bathrust is so better for the powerfull cars I think at least the Nissan cant be in the same class as, lets say, a BMW.

Well, thats is what I think anyway.

As for me, I have no idea which car I will pick! I have the set from the Supra saved, but Im thinking in some different car. Didnt make my mind yet.

Hopefully someone will remember but we may have not had Private Qualifying for this event.

There is normally no F'ing way that the Nissan has the same speed on Conrod as the Mustang but as I skimmed through the replay I noticed at least one Skyline keeping up due to the draft.

Pat pulls some crazy lap times from time to time, maybe he got a tow during qualifying. :?

Regardless, qualifying doesn't mean much when there are three or four tire compounds for the race.

All the stats are here from 2013

http://www.rfactorreport.10secrides.com ... &cssstyle=

Nissan got the 8th fastest lap in the race, 4th place finish and 6th fastest in quali.

If any car dominates the times it's the Ford.

I really wanted to take the Alfa here, (with Playboy and Johnnie Walker sponsorship on an Alfa, what could possibly go wrong?) but I just cannot get decent times with it - its not the car, its the idiot behind the wheel sadly - so put me down with Ford Cosworth power again please, in the Benson and Hedges #25 Sierra and lets see if Ford will still want me after this show.

I might be home in time for this race after all. #06 Texaco Ford Sierra RS500 since there doesn't appear to be many takers of the V8 class.

Three cars does not make a class, in my opinion. :( Tell ya what. I'll switch my car and King can still run the Holden like an "admin approved" car? 8-)

I may switch over to the #17 Dick Johnson Ford Mustang if we still need more V8 class cars in the next couple days.

Besides, that will be 3 years & different cars. What could possibly go wrong? :D

Still a bunch of people who are unaccounted for.

I've asked all the Evol boyz to pick cars.

I'm helping Bryan get set up with the mod this evening.

Don't forget, this is a great deal of extra practice in Race conditions for the following week's 1.4 Hour race in the Sports Cars too!

I'll be signing up as well, since Caleb says he won't be able to admin. I'm just waiting for a spot to fill--I'd really rather NOT run a V8 this time, if it's all the same.

Nah I just did that with the Vette last season. I would rather stick with the team on this one.

BESIDES, BEEN THERE DONE THAT!

I'll try it with something that doesn't beg to fly off the track EVERY SINGLE CORNER.

After a bunch of my own testing, the Volvo is not as easy to drive as I thought. I too will switch to the Mercedes! I use #32 Jurgen Weiler Rial wheels hotrod.

Only four V8 drivers? I just found out that my kids will be away for the weekend, so I might join. Haven't D/L the mod yet. I'm guessing I'll join the V8 class by necessity if enough join. 50 laps is a long way to go to only be racing 4 other cars. :|

Due to a complete lack of interest (I guess people only wanted to drive them when they were way too fast for the class) I'm shuttering the V8 class. You three remaining V8 drivers, please choose something else listed there. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully you didn't do much testing, and I think both Chris and Zeke wanted to drive something else anyway.

I was going to give it another go this time but went back and re-read my 2012 race results thread post when I drove it, about how I crashed twice up in the mountain all on my own. Couple that with it doing the same in testing for me this time, I just couldn't tame it with setup. :(

Would like to give this as go...been trying to test some cars but I'm having a issue with my G27…have a on screen split second freeze under braking. Really pudding me off! Have an old G25 but not sure if it's wheel or PC. Can't get a clean lap without the gremlins biting me a few times...F@$K!

I drove it last year (only one)-and practiced with it until last nite. For some reason, it seems much slower than last season.

As of this minute, Mike Allgood isn't going to make it on Sunday but Bryan Edginton is going to try to, 100% dependent on whether he and his son make it home from Sears Point in time. He'll likely miss qualifying but should be able to make the race start.

Skyline for Bryan Edginton, please. Any of them is fine, let others take their pick of the remaining ones first.

Team EVOL R&D has elected to use an unofficial skin pack, and will patch with anyone else's posting. The purpose of this is to easier identify drivers seen in the rear view mirror. This is not a 'Mandatory Patch', nor is there an official league Skin Pack. Anyone who does not elect to implement this Skin Pack only see the stock skins

The EVOL Skyline fleet entered into 'Pain Booth Dave's' arena Last Monday. Effort was in design was paced in small increments throughout Wednesday evening when the scheme was finally realized, and the more in depth work began. While taking a small break from the paint booth, with a bowl of ice cream and and the History channel tuned in, the sound of the G27 turning round and round was heard, which regret then materialized for the past few days of effort had not been saved.

Almost ready to through in the towel 'Pain Booth Dave' downed a couple 5 Hours, and went to work.

Frack, just realized it's a no skins affair this time. I'll find a unused Sierra when I get home tonight. I'm still going to move my old skin on it for my own benefit of course. ;)

Well there's a #11 Sierra and that's where my skin was already so I'll be in the #11 Nordica (damn that brings me back to my ski team days) car. If that's an issue due to Red's #11 Merc, then just assign me a Sierra and I'll make sure to choose that one come race time.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, I think you'll find it interesting that the Nissan is almost a second faster than the Mustang on qual setup, and more than a second faster on hards with a full tank. Perhaps the Mustang wasn't as hot as everyone thought it was... :|

It depends of who is driving it. Some drivers (I mean...aliens), will keep doing 17s and stuff regardless the car.

But I said that the Nissan was a bit too much strong for the class.

From power and performance wise, to make a single class close to fair, we have to exclude 4 cars, to be honest. All others are pretty much even.

Since Bojan is driving the Alfa, I'm going to round out the field by changing my ride to the #1 Husqvarna Volvo. I haven't even tested any cars yet, so it doesn't really matter.

I see a top 3 of an alien in a Skyline, an alien in an Alfa, and an alien in a Cosworth. Tom and Rich are the first humans in the list, and one is in a Cosworth. Then Coffey, you and Dave all relatively close in different cars too. Pretty sure the class is doing alright and Chris is just gonna run away with it again (unless kiby can do something about it.) That's not the class's fault.

Nor do we have any idea how tire of fuel strategy will play out anyway.

For this race is fine, sure.
To me the 4 cars to be excluded are the Mustang, Comodore, Nissan and Sierra. Those 4 cars are cleary better. Well, they were better on my personal testing anyway.

That was what I meant. :)
