2017 ESR Trans Am Series Car Classification
1968 Chevy Camaro "Penske" - High top speed, great torque, good overall grip, bit understeery, a little down on braking power, 2013 T/A champion.
1970 Chevy Camaro Z/28 - Good handling with the typical for this class low speed off-throttle understeer but no quirks, decent gear selection, poor brake cooling leads to the worst brake fade of the class, durable engine, on the slow side as far as acceleration but gains on longer straights with the highest top speed of the class. 2016 T/A champion.
1971 AMC Javelin - second-highest top speed, great torque, excellent mid-corner grip, good overall balance, easy to throw around, bit down on braking power, new gears and rev limit fix for 2015 made this perhaps the best all around car on the track.
1970 Dodge Challenger - Decent top speed, high-revving, best braking of the group, quick turn-in, loose under throttle. Not a single driver in the history of the Sunday Trans Am championship series but Mike Campbell won with it during the 2013 Tony Rust exhibition race.
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302 - quickest acceleration and high top speed under race conditions, good brakes, good exit grip, default set needs lots of work, understeers a fair bit, great gear selection, pleasing engine howl, most wins in 2013 with 2014 T/A champ Rich Coffey at the wheel who was in contention for the championship until he missed a race weekend.
1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda - Stable, high top speed, good brakes, limited gear selection, was a contender in 2013 and 2015.
1970 Pontiac Firebird - Chassis and gearbox are identical to the '70 Camaro Z/28, specs out with a little less power but at least 500 more revs seem to even it out, few drivers but Bojan Mikic ("Kiby") dominated at many tracks with a slower version and Dave Hutton was very competitive with it in 2016.
requires admin approval:
1966 Ford Falcon T/A ESR - Great brakes, strong acceleration, quirky handling and twitchy under braking, good turn-in grip, good overall car, dominant in 2014 and was the 2014 and 2015 champ with Rich Coffey and Brandon Smith at the controls, respectively. Drivers wishing to drive the Falcon must request approval Will almost certainly probably be excluded from the 2017 season as it's simply a bit too different from the rest of the cars, and no one drove it in 2016 and it was never involved in the real world Trans Am series.

Eating food at one of these establishments is not the first thing that comes to mind... Also I don't like pubes in my soup.

I'll just put it out there, I was planning on running the Falcon. It is literally my favorite car in the game. I don't get why other people don't drive it. It is a handful, but very satisfying when you get it juuust right! I will live with whatever decision is made though. All of these cars are fun to race.

Well I was going to say I'll test all the cars again but who am I kidding it always comes back to the Camaro for me.
So I'll just declare it, '68 Camaro #77 CodeRed.

My turn to withdraw my car selection.
The Mustang is fast and probably has the strongest and most fade resistant brakes but over two days and 100+ laps at Road America, I haven't been able to get it to turn in slow corners. Pushes on entry, pushes midcorner, pushes or wheelspin slides uncontrollably on exit, cannot be steered with the throttle on the way in nor on the way out. The brakes are no advantage when the POS won't turn.
Having more fun with the '70 Camaro but I'm going to hold off on registering to avoid officially changing my mind again.

I think that was largely due to gaining positions on the starts.

The Barracuda drives like an old boot with the laces missing. It sounds enthusiastically obnoxious as well. I'll take it.

I'm hoping to try playing with a few different cars this weekend if I can find the time. I'll likely be running a partial season as my excitement for these cars typically wane pretty quickly.

Looking to partake in this years TA championship guys.. It's been a few years since I've fired up the historix mod and she's still feels like the Gem I remember Great to see Tom and the admins have kept J Culbert, Jr group of die hard rfactor racers alive and well Never had the opportunity to race the American muscle hot rods before so it would be some good fun. If u have room for another driver in the sportsman champion the Boss 302 feels just right to me

Bob! Welcome back. In the interest of running something different that I have the past 2 or 3 seasons of TA, give me the Cuda for this go around.

If Lemon's back, I'll try to make as many events as I can. . . . Well, I suppose that's what I'd do anyway, but glad to have Bob back. '70 Camaro Z28 for me. Skin submitted for #66.

The Mustang keeps trying to seduce me but I think that the '70 Camaro made me happier over the course of a full season so I'm going keep her for at least another year.

It looks like Mr Smith will be driving the AMC, I'm going go ahead and register him because he's my teammate.
Those who have decided on a car, please let us know so that our entry list doesn't look so pathetic.
