Hey Tom,

I was surprised to see you exit early last night and reviewed that last race.

I did not realize we had contact until I saw the replay, I was trying to recover from my tail stepping out on me when my right rear quarter panel crushed your driver door, which started a chain of reaction of unfortunate events for you.

My apologies for my contribution to your bad night....

No worries, Dave.

I had a falling down moment that's been brewing for months that I couldn't overcome and I still had a work meeting to go to so I put an end to my irritation and freed up some time by sending it into the gravel and pushing the ESC key.

I regretted it immediately as it would have been fun to try to catch the end of the Pro class

Poll added.

Sorry if I made a poor choice of track for the first round.

Based on how well GTC and the Simca Cup went this year and the Test Race here two weeks ago, I kinda forgot about how the beginning of the Trans Am season tends to be a mess as we struggle to adapt to the braking and the size of the cars. Well, I didn't totally forget, Turn 2 (which is effectively Turn 1 on the start) is very wide and has ample runout and runoff area but a new track with some deadly barriers isn't ideal for a season opener.

Poor starts and blown engines are another thing that I never would have thought of, though.

The, umm, unique three to a row grid and a field of drivers itching to lead the championship at the end of day surely didn't help at Race 2 time but I beg that those who had a hard time with the starts spend some time practicing starts for everyone's benefit.

I think that it's more important to choose gears that produce the fastest lap time which for me often dictates a tall first gear but even for the starts I prefer a the tallest first gear that I can get away with so that I can use high revs and full throttle on the start and use the clutch to balance between bogging and wheelspin.

Blown engines are another matter. Please ask for help if you need it. All of these cars have very durable engines, no one should be blowing them up.

Those who had poor races, please let us prove that this is a great series and be placated by the fact that we all get to drop our worst three weekends from the final championship tally. Kinda sucks to burn a throwaway on a bad race rather than a Sunday activity conflict compromise but still better than real life with a real car in real racing series.

Last thing. I seem to lose my mind once a season and give in to restarts because I want everyone to have fun races. Unfortunately, seemingly inevitably someone gets screwed on the final start so that was it, no more this season; one practice start for each race followed by the official start.

Had fun and thought the track was decent..
My only negative would be track was to easy to cut in multiple spots ;)
I was also disappointed to see and be involved with some serious over aggressive driving..
Felt like I gave plenty of room to race clean and kept my line but was board line raced dirty.
I mean you would think real money, women and fame were waiting in victory lane
Congrats to KJ and Pat! nice drives dudes :D

Congrats to the other winners and podium finishers. Ok I may have a biased opinion of this track because of the success I had, I found it to be a fun interesting track. :D

I found some flow and speed here so Qualy went good for me and got pole. :o

Race one: My focus was to keep the lead from the start to turn two. I was able to accomplish that, so just tried to not screw up and I knew I could pull a gap. Late in the race I made a error going too fast into turn 8 and slid out coming to a stop in the dirt, fortunately I had a 7+ second lead on Tom. I recovered from that losing 4 seconds and able to keep ahead of Tom for the few remaining laps to the finish.

Race two: Starting in the back I knew it was going to be tough, not easy to pass here. Going into turn two after the start I hadn't gained anything, from there I just tried to work my way up. I was able to gain positions forward due to some misfortune of others and a few passes. Mid race or so I was chasing Hutty in 3rd and thinking by the end of the race I could maybe get a top 3. Well not my luck and did a weird slide out in the "Corkscrew", had to wait for the guys I had passed to go by before re-entering the track. Lost 3 spots in that deal, chased my back up to Brandon in 4th and we went at it for a few laps but I couldn't pull of the pass on him( Great racing Brandon!). Until with one lap to go Brandon got too hot into turn 8 , I slipped by to get back into 4th but with no time to catch Yoan in 3rd.

Congrats to Kevin, Max and Bobby on your wins and to the rest of teh podium.

Sunday was too long ago but do remember bumping Dave, sorry about that. Remember spinning on my own in the esses, redemption for Dave, finish 4th and a smooth clean run in race 2. I hit no one and a win for me.

And I like the track too. Good luck fellas at Portland!
