Man. I wish I made it to more of these. :( Congrats to Tom and Max. Tom was out there in a league of his own.

Race 1: Gridded P4. Got a decent start. Lap 2 following Max into T1, and I suddenly discover his braking point is before mine. I nearly hit him, but managed to swerve and hit the wall. My engine didn't like the taste of radiator and coolant on its exterior. I got to enjoy watching KJ and Max and Eric and Bobby Lee. Close racing. Which set me up for ...

Race 2: Start in P1. After everyone figured out how to get started cleanly, I was able to lead for a few laps until Tom dispensed with me and the rest of the field. KJ was making up ground on me. I tried to think about keeping up with Tom, but after a friction event I had to focus on staying in P2. KJ in one's mirrors can keep one focused. Those were a long ten laps. Great racing Tom and KJ.

Too bad about all the engine DNFs.

I spent an hour and a half digging around and monkeying with the software to get the "new" wheel to see rFactor. All the other sims that are installed in default locations the software was able to auto-detect and add the plugins...not so much for my rF1 installs. I suspect the multiple installs affected that...though it still didn't even see the vanilla install in the default location. Anywho, I found what I was missing and got it sorted right at the start of qual.

R1: Spent 3/4 of the practice lap running side by side w/ Hutty. Then had a good dice with him at the start of the race for the first 3 laps...until the rear wagged a bit too much over a rise...ending up off the track and through the air resulting in a dead car.

R2: Short. I think I was squeezed off on the run up to T2, I was expecting a slight glance off the wall and losing a bunch of positions...but instead got hooked and pitched back across the track right through the middle of the pack. Sorry about that. Packed it up after that.

Frustrating end to the night...but it was good fun scrapping w/ Hutty for a few laps.

Congrats to the winners and podium finishers. Very disappointing turn out to a fun track, but some had real life commitments.

Well in the discussion thread my computer issues this week were laid out and right up to an hour before race time wasn't sure I'd be able to race. But thanks to Dale he gave me the instructions on how to get old installs functioning with Steam. Was still messing with things right up to Qualy. My wheel is not setup right yet, just has force anything off from dead center not necessarily feedback . No Real Feel working yet. Degree's of rotation is wrong, real twitchy. So just turned the FFB down till I could drive.

So having said that I wasn't expecting much being kind of handicapped and my times showed it, was way off pace from Tom in Qualy. Thought I'd be running around the back for the race. Unexpectedly got a good start and found myself chasing Max in 2nd the whole race one. He stayed clean and I couldn't catch him, but almost did at the line only .020 apart to finish 3rd! Great racing Max!! :D

Race two I had a little more confidence after race one. Got another good start and after the run up the hill I was 2nd behind Jimmie. He pulled away from me some but I kept chasing. I knew once Tom broke free into 3rd that it was only a matter of time, he got up to me and passed. So after he passed Jimmie we were back to the same but 2nd and 3rd now. I was able to get up to him a couple of times but couldn't setup anything. Then I'd make a slight error and there'd be a gap again, I wasn't close enough when he made his big error going off in the last turn and sliding against the wall to capitalize on it. So finished 3rd again, great driving Jimmie.

Hopefully I can get everything functioning and back to normal by next Sunday. ;)

Brandon set the lap time target pretty early in the week.

With the Camp fire raging and the SF Bay Area choking with toxin filled smoke, I did everything that I could to stay indoors as much as possible and included a bit more practice that I've been getting lately.

The Pro class was very thin with Brandon and Pat's planned absences, KJ with computer issues and possibly motivational malady induced by the Mustang so my first Perfect Weekend in a long time isn't very satisfying. With my bad luck through the first four weekends and the leveling impact on the championship, I'll take it but not super happy about it.

If the Pro class was at its usual strength, I would have had a terrible Race 1.

Assuming that I would have been still able to get pole and enjoy a small margin after the first lap, I would have lost it and possibly plummeted out of the top five as I didn't load quite enough fuel for the race and had to back off about halfway through to assure that I finished. Okay, I'll be happy about avoiding that disaster.

I was very careful in Race 2 knowing that I had the pace to get to the front without any hard passes so once I made it up to P2 behind Jim Carvalho, I did my best to race close but give him every corner until I could make a clean, no contest pass that hindered neither of us. That made for a fun few laps with some nice side by side moments. Excellent driving, Mr Carvalho.

With Thunderhill effectively voted off the schedule and Pacific Raceway being a bit of a bucket list add, it looks like we have a good addition here.

OK KJ - you got it working. Should of read all posts before throwing my 2 cents in for help. Thanks Dale for helping him out.
