Tentative tracks in random order as of 2018-12-16 14:44 PDT

The theme is southern hemisphere, national to international level, mostly familiar tracks that have proven to race well and simpler is better if possible with any new tracks.

1. Mexico City (Mexico)
2. Autodromo Nacional Columbia (Autódromo de Tocancipá) clockwise (Colombia)
3. Jacarapagua (Brazil)
4. Brasilia (Brazil)
5. Curitiba (Brazil)
6. Interlagos (Brazil)
7. Termas de Rio Hondo (Argentina)
8. Kyalami GPC79 (South Africa)
9. Philip Island (Australia)
10. Melbourne (Australia)
11. Eastern Creek (Australia)
12. Hidden Valley (Australia)
13. Ruapana (New Zealand)
14. Pukekohe (New Zealand)
15. Balcarce (Argentina)
16. Teratonga (New Zealand)

"on the bubble" and will be on the server Sunday nights and Mondays:

Teratonga is the most likely to be dropped but added as an Official Test venue. It's a good track, simple with a long straight but it is a little narrow.

Balcarce has a high speed corner that is tricky for at least the Alpine, Escort and 911. I think that it is manageable but best for the track track to be late in season once we're used to the cars. Very wide, easy to learn, drag race from one end to the other a couple of times, one straight up fun corner another is fun/thrilling once you learn to get through it without crashing.

Melbourne. We seem to have avoided it for whatever reasons. It's technically a street circuit but has plenty of racing room and races like a true road course. There is a weird glitch that affects two or three of the default Escort skins or maybe it's two or three of the Escorts, I haven't tested. Need to do more wheel to wheel, no really clear passing opportunities.

honorable mention

Tony Rust. KJ mentioned it, the only reason it would even occur to me to include it is that it's in the southern hemisphere. I love all of Zeke's tracks but more of an A0 track. Too single lined, narrow and amateur club / track day level for GTC. We'll probably use it again in the summer.

Merry Christmas everyone!

With so many cars to choose from, I feel the need to finalize the schedule by Jan 2 so that the undecided have sufficient time to test their choices at a variety of relevant tracks.

Balcarce is solidly in. The trick to surviving the last corner (cresting kink) is to apex as parallel as possible to the subsequent short straight part so that when the car gets light (or airborne) it will be headed in the right direction when it recovers. Once you can get through there flat then T1 requires great care and smooth steering input to reward you with the highest speed on the circuit before braking for T2.

I tried a few different versions of Melbourne, all of which had the same graphical glitch with at least the #25 Ford Escort RS.

I'll have a version of Melbourne up next week.

If anybody has a great idea for a track that fits the theme, now is the time to let us know.

The schedule is posted.

I wandered a little north of the equator for Mexico and Colombia and there is something goofy about Brasilia with Jacarapagua and Brasilia apparently being the same real life circuit but very different in rFactor but it should be fun.

I'll start posting tracks soon.
