Change is on the horizon with rRactor 2 the most likely sim that we will be moving to but I'll save that for a topic in another forum.

Either start a new topic or post anything that is on your mind here.

The rFactor 2 discussion got me thinking about a new computer. My current box is... *checks date* ...holy crap, ten years old! I did not realize it was that old. My wife has had multiple new Macs in the time I've had this one PC. Unfortunately, unless I get a miracle or catastrophe soon, there will be no new PC for me in the foreseeable future. I would not blame y'all for moving to a modern sim. I just will not be able to join you for a while yet. Please do not let that influence the decision to switch. I'll just be a bit late to the party.

Pardon my ignorance here but maybe your wife can give up an old Mac which I believe can run rFactor2.

Tom - our visit last night gave us teh boot selecting the Apex mod however the Edurance mod was no problem. When I first went to join, got teh package not available so lucky Dave wass able to get on and see what changes you made. So I as well as Kevin headed off to teh workshop and all is well.

Really, really starting to like what I'm driving there. Looking very forward to some league racing in this modern sim! Now if I can just stop driving an Aston like a Historic. Jesus I was a mess.

Thanks, Pat, still learning the ropes, glad it worked out.

I've started a thread/topic for the current server settings.

rFactor 2 Matchmaker first glance is a step backwards with no mod information but IMO that's inevitable as ANY car can be enabled on a server, can't list a dozen or more cars.

When we settle down to a championship then I can manually type as the game name (?) "Enduracers" or "Howsten Dissenter" or our designation for whatever mod package that we're using.

Yeah, thanks again Tom like I said in the other topic. Enjoying it, especially trying to knock off 4 sec against Dave. What a learning curve. No more ram rodding :D

So I have it installed and running. I have Paul R. loaded but when I try to join the server I get "Package not Available". What else do I need?

Nevermind! I see the thread now

That almost certainly means that you don't have all of the cars.

I post what is on the server here: viewtopic.php?f=97&t=3742

Follow the links to subscribe to each of them.

Enduracers is 4 GB+ so that's going to take a long time.

I intend to change the track to Road America 2016 this afternoon/evening so subscribe to that, too.

That seems too fast for all those to install. I let my PC run overnight for Enduracers.

Restart rF2?

It said it did. Took a little while. I checked that I am subscribed to all of them and restarted a couple of times.

EDIT: I'M IN! I unsubscribed and re-subscribed and it works now

Hey guys, I found a nice step-by-step tutorial on how to use Driver Swap in rF2.

So last Sunday night 8/11 after the normal RF1 races 5 of us moved over to the RF2 server and ran around Mid Ohio with the 70's Stock cars. These cars will defiantly give you that historic driving feel. Then it happened, the first EFNET RF2 race. Ok was only two laps and took us a bit to be able to start and get through the two laps without restarting due to crashing. But for the record Rich won the race.

I had no graphics issues with 5 cars on track, everything ran smooth. I think we are going to try to keep doing this after the races on Sunday, so jump in if you want to test RF2 with your PC.

goddamnit! i keep missing the action. I dont have rFactor 1 anymore. I bought it before my son was born, and he will be 14 in a few months. Time to move on.

Next time you have test races, or Sunday night scrims in rF2 please text me, and I'll try to join.

4 8 0 - 8 ONE 9 - 4 3 ONE 8 [Scottsdale, AZ] ...(trying to avoid bots collecting my phone #)

... and for the record, we had the first ESR rF2 race back when it was first released years ago. it was at lime rock park with about 5 drivers with an open wheel car.

Just look for the rF2 server around 19:45 PDT on Sundays, we'll be there reliably after the Simca races.

I turn the rF2 dedicated server off iwhen we are racing on the rF1 server.

Uh, it took a month. I had a good experience with Velocity Micro in the past. That is why I ordered from them again. I am not impressed with their performance this time.

I did some laps with an Xbox controller just to test it. It was nearly undriveable with the controller, but it looked sweet. I got some graphical glitches in the menu, of all things. I look forward to trying it with the wheel.

I'm looking forward to this! Would it be possible to get a weekly email reminder before a race or car selection dates?

Be sure to have the latest gfx driver installed and do a restart, had a similar situation happen and that seemed to clear it up.

The efnet SIM racing page on facebook will be a good tool to announce our races, we can also share that with other SIM racing groups to possibly attract other drivers.

Keep updates here, as well, however. Some of us aren't on FB. Can you imagine that.

The forum will always the place to check for info.

By the way that I operate, announcing on social media makes little sense when this website never moves and is easier to get to with a simple bookmark and less cluttered with worthless posts but I am trying need to keep up with the kidz I guess.

My frame rate with the Toyota Celica and Datsun 510 @ Road America was under 10 fps at times. With one of the Studio 397 cars (I can't for the life of me remember which one now) it was over 30.

I haven't touched rF2 in a few weeks because the frame rate was really tiring and no fun but it was in very large part due to the cars.

As much as I like the idea of the Celicas and 510s, they are too crude.

It seems like all of the Studio 397 and ISI cars are really good, which makes absolute sense with paid professionals creating them.

A real gem might be the Corvette C6 Z06 with the Z07 package upgrade which basically gives us a track day setup . Minimal adjustments, moderate grip (low compared to a modern race car), good sounds, what we want if we can get past it being a modern car.

I was reminded that the Acura NSX is great to drive, albeit a little boring trackside from the sounds it makes.

All the Howstens are great but definitely on the difficult end.

I encourage everyone to subscribe to any all cars that interest you and start finding some favorites. The end of rF1 for us is about 45 days away, need to decide a direction soon.

It feels like we are going to spend most if not all January of 2020 getting acclimated to rFactor 2 and deciding which cars will be the basis of our first rF2 championship.

I am going to start threads for every car and car set that I could see us racing.

For the foreseeable future, only standard Studio 397 rFactor 2 and Steam Workshop content qualify, too many cars to work through as it is.

I'll put up polls if I can do so in a sensible way.

I'll include the Steam Workshop links for each.

My vote goes to BTCC.
I think they're fun, and forgiving for our first go 'round.

Corvette ZR1 places second.

GT3 is a very close bridesmaid. Like these cars a lot.

My three cents. Y'know, after exchange rate.

Wish I could add vauable input here but spending only a hour a week with TUM on this is no where near enough for me. I did like the ZR1 last Sunday. Just as long as we're sticking with short races. The tires never stopped smokin' :D

I'll try to go through the cars to voice an opinion in there own threads.

I have run the BTTC Honda Fwd car when it first came out and it was fun, like Tim said hard to get into big trouble with it. The Vette is lots of fun, GTC3 cars are great but would take some time to get setup good and comfortable with. Lastly the Howsten, the car is a handful and very much like some of the high powered Historic cars we've driven, maybe down the road we can take a stab at these.

I know we are the "Historic League" but driving a modern car for the first RF2 seasons I think is in our best interest for every one and also to maybe attract new members.

Reminder that with rF2 you need not leave the server to change cars.

On of the in-game screens there is a "select car" button near the bottom.

Thanks, Dale.

I checked last night, some Studio 397 stuff was 50% off, others 30% off "Autumn Sale".

I almost bought the 50% off GT3 car set but am hoping for 50% or deeper discounts across the board deeper for Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Anybody remember exactly how it went last year?

Just to put this here and to clarify some discussion in other threads and for those not running with us currently and waiting on RF2

EFNET is switching to RF2 in a few weeks as our race sim for 2020. We have already more or less switched and are just finishing out our last RF1 series on Sunday evenings. Sunday nights after the RF1 series races a group of us jump over to our RF2 server and play around racing and testing, usually about 10pm central time. The RF2 server is up all week so jump in, Saturday nights later on( 11:00'ish) their is usually at least a couple of us on the RF2 server, another opportunity for non regulars to jump on with us.

We have our own EFNET TeamSpeak and you really need to work on getting on that so we can communicate with you.

Going forward we really would like and need more then the regular 8 to 10 guys currently running to make this worth it going into 2020 race seasons. We are also discussing having some one-off events like in the past and really need more drivers to even consider doing those. The EFNET RF2 server is left open so anyone jump in so hopefully we can attract some new people, if anyone knows of someone racing RF2 please suggest running with us.

Also we are discussing having a "EFNET team" participate in other leagues RF2 big 8 to 24 hr(?) endurance events with driver swaps, ect.
