In case you aren't following on Facebook, the Tautus F4 was rejected by the RSA team manager so we bounced a few others ideas.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/609862125737285/

I needed to make a decision so I went with the Volkswagen Fun Cup cars.

The server is up now. We can always change again for Fri Apr 3 but I propose that we make this a Covid-19 series and simply do it again weekly with different cars and/or tracks.

Waiting on confirmation from the RSA boys but it's looking like 22:00 California time at the earliest.

Kit (who proposed it) felt that it wouldn't race well at Zwartkops.

Ok, we are ready for 04h00 which works out to 19h00 LA time, 21H00 time for KJ, Hutty and not sure Rich in Colarado or Pat in Philly side somewhere?

What times work for you chaps?

Obvs, we could do the 5 min quali at 04h50 our time.

Okay. 04h30 for Kit is 19h30 for California, so one hour later than we do on Sundays.

I took qualifying and Superpole to be two different things but not sure how to implement so I'm just going to go with two hours practice and 15 minutes qualifying as usual for us in case someone arrives late. If you want to run a 5-minute warmup as Superpole, we can do that, too.

Super pole is merely one hotlap qualifying Tom.

The only superpole that I am familiar with was as performed by World Superbike 3-6 years ago.

After normal qualifying, the top x number of riders went out one at a time for one out and one flying lap to decide the top x spots.

For those who can't line up for the official races, I'll surely stick around for some shorter fun races with other cars and or/tracks.

I project that Race 2 won't start any earlier than 20:30 California time. In fact, if we're less than 10 minutes ahead of that prediction, I'll make it 20:30 start time.

Pat and others in his situation, maybe load up rF2 so that it's ready to go. You can even just park it on the server, easy enough to adjust for.

Got some weird hanging/freezing where the car would stay in place for a second or two then come back to life while everyone else reappeared further ahead. It happened 2 or 3 times. Don't know if it was the track or on my end. I was late for the fun anyways.

This was too late for me to participate boys.
I did tries these cars out, based on this suggestion.
They are hilarious. I'd support more time in these babies.

Although I didn't do well in race one due to spinning off track, race two was fun. I had Sciknight chasing me most of the race.

Love to do it again, fun to race other racers we normally don't and different cars then the norm for us.

I did find the curbs overly dangerous. Touch it just a tad & off you go. Weird.

Team RSA dominated but we all had fun.

There was something with these cars and the curbs, I believe that the dynamic was that putting a front wheel on a curb unloaded the inside rear tire which more often that not caused a snap spin. Afterwards we did laps with the Radical SR3 and Fiat Abarth 850, neither of which exhibited the behavior.

We are going to do this again on Fridays for the foreseeable future. Next week will be the Abarth 850s @ Zwartkops again. Want a rematch ;)

We're going to adjust the start time a bit, need to balance between too late for USA and too early for RSA.

Also going to change the in-game practice and race times to 2:00 PM from 3:00 PM, shadows were a little too much by the end of practice.

I used CarStat to check what was going on with the "boost mapping" setting which was adjustable from 1-10.

According to the graph that was generated, torque noticeably decreased throughout the rev band but horsepower (which is simply torque x rpm / 5252) didn't change at all. Checking the calculated peaks, TQ decreased by 4 lb-ft and HP increased by 1. The total area under both curves was greater with the boost setting on 1 than it was on 10.

Less power under 5252 rpm, insignificant increase above 5252, the HP peak rpm didn't change, no increase in power above the peak rpm.

Both fuel consumption and engine wear increase greatly as the setting is increased.

It's not reflected in CarStat but the rev limiter rpm in-game did increase with each boost setting.

I've seen the boost setting applied incorrectly a number of times in rFactor, seems to be the case here as turning up the boost just makes the car slower. If the plan was raise the rev limit, then it would have been better to make the rev limiter adjustable. Higher revs increase engine wear and fuel consumption without changing any other parameters.
