I would like to score Dave in 2nd and me in 3rd. It was a tight situation and he wasn't 100% clear when he moved in front of me, but I did push him off and I don't want to gain a spot like that! I also creamed him in R1 going into the hairpin, so that factors in as well. Sorry Dave, it was an awesome battle except there at the end.

The rolling start was indeed a success. Seemed to accomplish what was needed.

Congrats to Tom for pole at his home track. Heat 1 was good to me. Eric got a jump on me at the green, but had a bit of a bobble a little later to let me back into position. I tried to give it back to him later at the downhill carousel, but he insisted I keep it.

I must have been asleep at the green for Heat 2. By turn 3 of the first lap, I was dead last. I managed to keep in touch with Eric. When we came up close to Barry, Eric made a move going into the hairpin at the far end of the track and almost pulled it off; but he lost his good friend "Mo'"; and I was able to sneak under him. I was able to get a good run to the hairpin at the end of the lap, and got by Barry.

Tim had a tank-slapper at the top of the track. Yowan had some problems, and I was surprised to see him on the track not far ahead. In fact he was wandering back onto the track at the carousel. I felt very fortunate to go from 11th to 7th. I was able to keep a little gap to Yowan until the end. We both passed Tom who was doing some mosquito abatement at the carousel. My new pb was 2.5 seconds faster than the last time we were here, but still 3 seconds off the Pro times. Good fun as always.

Congrats to our winners and to the podium as well.

I feel the rolling starts worked out good. Lets keep trying them for awhile.

Great race 1 with me holding up Brandon. It worked out, I still finished ahead of him. Pretty hard track to pass on. Race 2 on the other hand - caught some grass in the carousel and looped it. So Tom dogged me the rest of the race till he suddenly disappeared. Overall had a good time.

See you all next week at Laguna, cheers fellas :D

Rollin starts is definitively a good choice and feels realistic good job Tom.

Heat 1 : Awesome race as always with Jim. I hurt him a bit and prefered to give him the head he was clearly faster!
Heat 2 : The double-once vodka taken during the warmup kicks in, and I touch the wall. Sorry
Good fun tough

Next week is the best track in the hole world : Laguna Seca (familiary called here « laguine » french world for Lesbian.

I can't log into Liveracers, may have something to do with our free plan so I can't edit the results to reflect the incident between Brandon and Dave in Race 2.

I always try to put in a big effort at Sonoma because it's my home track (less than 15 minutes' drive).

It was looking good in official practice but I pushed too hard in qualifying, hitting the wall at Turn 1 twice which sent me to the pits the same number of times and it took me to the last lap of qualifying to put a lap together, good enough for pole by 0.015 sec with no time left on the session clock.

Arriving at T1 after a rolling start for the first time ever was strange but the start seemed to go cleanly and fairly enough and I was able to take advantage of a clear track ahead and put in 12 good laps to take the win without any real pressure.

Race 2 was a different story. Pole man Tim Porter caught me out by accelerating out of T11 and pacing the field at a much higher speed than we were expecting and I fell back quite a bit on top of already being in last place due to the grid inversion.

It's a blur from there aside from finding myself about 9 laps in contending for P5 with Pat Sweeney until my brain malfunctioned on Lap 10, contemplating an upshift to 3rd before T3 (I'd been over-revving 2nd by about 200-300 rpm to avoid a shift) but executing a downshift to 1st instead after the command to upshift to 3rd was never sent to the fingers on my right hand. The engine blew instantly but I was able to coast all the way through T6 and park it behind a barrier on the left side of the uphill straight for some added realism with the leaders then able to see that the race 1 winner was out of the race.

Understanding that this will probably be our last time here with rF1, I marveled at the accuracy of many of the track details, hoping that we won't be disappointed with whatever rF2 gives us for Sonoma Raceway. Home track or not, it's one of my favorites.
